Omkarotsav is an initiative by the students of IISER Pune that emphasizes embracing our cultural and traditional origins. Celebrated around the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, Omkarotsav is IISER Pune's way of adding up to the pomp and show of this grand Indian fiesta. We look forward to inviting Lord Ganapati to our campus and spending a glorious day with delightful people.

In this modern age, people don't often have the time to look back at their ancient heritage and lifestyle. Omkarotsav approaches to enthrall us busy people with glimpses of our heritage with its many splendid cultural programs. From the elegant presentation of various art forms to tricky pancultural puzzles, we assure you that you will end the day with a big smile and a big brain. The greatness of a culture can be found in its festivals. Organized by the Marathi Club of IISER Pune, Omkarotsav also introduces you to the authentic Marathi culture, from colorful events to luscious dishes.

Celebration is a kind of food we all need in our lives, and each individual brings a special recipe or offering, so that together we will make a great feast. With this ideology, the Marathi Club of IISER Pune welcomes the values of celebrating together this wonderful week of pomp and luster.

After a long break of two years, we are celebrating Omkarotsav in our campus! Along with the usual convivial celebration that involves installing Lord ganesha's idol with magnificent decorations, the festivities for this year will include several fun games, an in-person treasure hunt in the campus and Prasad for everyone on the Visarjan day.

Brief Account of Events:
  1. Inauguration of Website:
    2. 22nd Aug: The Website of Marathi club, made from scratch by the volunteers was released on this auspicious day.

  2. Art competition:
    3. Collaborating with the art club, art competition was held. Theme of the arts was Lord Ganesha. We received some great pieces of art. Harshita Patnaik from 2nd year won the competition.



  3. Decoration competition:
    4. In this competition participants were supposed to send pics or videos of their Ganesha decoration at home. All the decorations were so great that we weren’t able to decide the winner.

  4. Omkarostav meet:
    5. This was a fun event, we gathered on google meet and students shared about Omkarotsav celebrations in their states

  5. Mythology hunt:
    6. We collaborated with iplug and made a conquistar with the theme of mythologies around the world. Participation was in good numbers and it was a great experience.

  6. Cultural Programme:
    7. In this event participants were asked to send dance and/or song performance themed Ganesha. We received 6 wonderful performances.Do see the youtube video.

Omkarotsav is a festival we all love, and we had to get creative this year. Thanks to hardworking coordinators and volunteers and wonderful participants, we were able to pull off a spectacular omkarotsav!
